VirtualBox is a virtualization software that can be used to execute an “additional” operating system inside the “main” operating system. For example, if someone has the MS Windows operating system installed on their computer, then they can also run other desired operating systems within the Windows operating system.
VirtualBox was first offered by InnoTek Systemberatung GmbH, a German company based in Weinstadt, under a proprietary software license, making one version of the product available at no cost for personal or evaluation use, subject to the VirtualBox Personal Use and Evaluation License (PUEL).In January 2007, based on counsel by LiSoG, InnoTek released VirtualBox Open Source Edition (OSE) as free and open-source software, subject to the requirements of the GNU General Public License (GPL), version 2.

How it works:
VirtualBox creates a virtual machine on top of the host operating system, and you can install and run the operating system inside the virtual machine.
Benefits of VirtualBox
Advantages of VirtualBox
- Easy to use, offers additional settings.
- Free to use.
- Lighter compared to similar applications such as VMware.
- Supports more virtual disks.
- Video graphic adapter (VGA) memory and CPU performance can be adjusted.
- Highly recommended for long term use.
VirtualBox Weaknesses
- Cannot perfectly access devices that require a USB connection.
- Some full-screen games do not work.
- Requires a lot of memory and you need to be very proficient in managing storage resources for each virtual machine (when multiple virtual machines are running at the same time). Low/insufficient memory may cause all running virtual machines to stall/crash.
- The drag and drop function does not work on many virtual machines.
- Network ID for virtual machines, only 4 pieces.
